TRS for no-confidence motion on AP govt

Kiran Kumar Reddy
TRS today (Dec 1) said it will support the proposed no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government to be moved by the TDP during the Winter Session of the AndhraPradesh Assembly beginning on Friday, Dec 2.

"The ruling Congress has cheated the people of Telangana over the statehood demand. This government has lost the confidence of Telangana people. We will vote against the government if the no-confidence motion is moved in the Assembly," TRS Floor Leader in the Assembly, E Rajender told reporters here tonight after a meeting of the party MLAs here.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao chaired the meeting.

The party demanded that the Assembly pass a resolution in support of formation of separate Telangana during the Winter session.

"If the government does not come forward for passing a resolution in support of Telangana, we will stall the proceedings," Rajender said.

He said the MLAs of ruling Congress and TDP from Telangana region should also press for passing a resolution in the Assembly.

TRS has 13 members in the 294-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly, whose effective strength is 287 at present. Asked about Home Minister P Chidambaram''s reported comments that some political parties in the state are yet to make up their mind on the Telangana issue, the TRS leader claimed that it is a cliched comment.
