Bollywood actress Vidhya Balan is donning the role of Silk Smitha. Silk Smitha’s brother has objected to this film. At this juncture Vidya Balan has given a diversified statement regarding this film. She has said, “This film is about a South Indian actress. But this film is based on the life of Silk Smitha. I am donning the role of a dancer called Smitha.

Naseeruddin Shah is donning the role called Surya Kanth. Though he is a senior actor, I could only see him in that character while acting with him. The story happens in 1980s.
