Simbu’s Osthe is all set to hit the screens next Friday. As reported earlier, it’s the Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit film Dabbangg which starred Salman Khan in the lead as a tough cop. As such, Simbu has donned the khaki uniform for the Tamil version; this is the first time in his career that Simbu would be donning the cop’s role.

Richa Gangopadhyay, who debuted as heroine in Tamil films with Mayakkam Enna (oppositeDhanush) which release last week, plays the lead role again in Otshe and reprises the role essayed by debutant Sonakshi Sinha in the original version. Director Dharani returns to action after a long break and has directed Simbu in this film. Dharani sounds extremely confident that the film would fare very well at the box-office.

The film also has an alluring ‘item number’ ‘Kala Sala’ in which Bollywood’s Mallika Sherawat has danced with our own Simbu. The highlight of the song is that it has been sung by Simbu’s father and film-maker Vijaya T. Rajendar and veteran playback singer L.R. Eswari. The song has already become a popular number along with other songs in the film.

Now, with hardly 10 days to go for the film’s theatrical release, there is some trouble brewing on the ‘title’ front. Tamil Kaapu Kazhagam (???), a group claiming itself as patron of Tamil language and Tamil culture, is up in arms against the title. It has said that Osthe, as such, is not a ‘proper’ Tamil word and demanded that the title should be changed immediately as there are many appropriate words in Tamil language as substitutes.

However, Simbu and Rajendar have responded saying that they are helpless in the matter as nothing can be done to change the title at the eleventh hour with less than ten days left for the release of the film. The father-son duo has said that they respected Tamil lanuage as always and that they won’t do or say anything which turns out detrimental to the interest of the language in particular and to Tamilians in general.
