It is spoken in hushed tones in Kollywood for the past few days. The topic of discussion in Kollywood these days is either about the film Dam 999 or about the totally unexpected ‘split’ between actress Anjali and actor Jai. The couple seemed to be enjoying each other’s company and was widely perceived in Kollywood as an ‘ideal’ couple.

All of a sudden, Anjali’s harshly-worded statement to the press was released in the middle of last week. In that statement, she denied that she was in love with Jai and had insisted that nothing but shining as an actress of substance was on her mind at the moment. “I’m not in love with any actor and I request the media not to say or write anything about me and Jai with whom I’ve decided not to sign up any more films,” the statement had said.

Stung sharply, Jai reacted within a couple of days saying that ‘career’ was the top most priority for him too and added that he would never marry ‘an actress’ in his life. “I would only marry a girl of my parents’ choice,” he said. The war of words between the due appears to have been triggered by a ‘politician’ who is presently living abroad as he fears he’d be arrested if he landed up in Channai.

The politician is said to be under ‘pressure’ every since the State had a new regime after the April elections. Said to be close to Anjali, the politician was irked by media reports he came across on the Internet about the ‘proximity’ of Jai and Anjali and reportedly ‘fired’ Anjali over phone and asked her to ensure that no such news about her appeared in the print and television media in future.
